Master Wayne Humphries Master Sian Humphries

Pencoed Tang Soo Do has been established for over 15 years with over 100 active time students both Wayne and Sian Humphries also teach in the Garw Valley Tang Soo Do School. The Masters Humphries encourage strong links between the class and the local schools including participating in fund raising events and fetes for the local primary schools. The emphasis in Pencoed is on raising self esteem through work and teaching people to do things that they would never have dreamed possible before coming to class.

New York 2008

In October this year a number of students travelled to New York to take part in Master Rexer's 'New York Classic' tournament. As usual the trip and competition was excellent. We won more than our fair share of trophies as the pictures below show and all are looking to go back again. Special mention should be made of Mr Adam Hawkins, who took "Grand Champion forms" (14 - 17yrs). This competition has become one of the highlights of the Tang Soo Do year.

Congratulations

Our sincere congratulations go to Mrs. Jill Roberts and to Miss Cerys Thomas. On Saturday the 2nd August 2008 both were promoted to the rank of First Dan by the examining committee of the Traditional Tang Soo Do Federation. These Dan promotions are the culmination of over five years of hard work, dedication and perseverance. Very well done to you both.......

Again our sincere congratulations go to Mr. Adam Hawkins who on the 2nd August 2008 was promoted to the grade of 3rd Dan. Mr. Hawkins is the assistant instructor in the Garw Valley Tang Soo Do School and has been instrumental in its success. Mr. Hawkins has been training since he was six and a half years old and has trained for 11 years to achieve this rank, to put a bit of perspective on this level of dedication, Adam has been training in Tang Soo Do for over 3/4 of his 17 1/2 years....

Then And Now

We thought this might be nice for some of our newer club members to see some of our more senior belts when they first started in Tang Soo Do. I have picked (for no apparent reason) Louise...and to be fair....myself. I don't actually have a photo of me as a white belt, green was the earliest I could find.
