This web page provides information for instructors and students regarding
our proud membership of The Tang Soo Do Union.
The purpose of The Tang Soo Do Union is a simple one, to engage in
cross Federation activities for the furthering of opportunities for members.
To this end the Union will organize events such as seminars
and tournaments in
Britain
and abroad to encourage interaction between traditional Tang Soo Do bodies.
Founder members of the
Tang Soo Do Union:

The first of these events for 2007 was a 'Training with the Masters Seminar'
and hosted by Master Kemp of the Tiger Gym. The date for this fantastic
seminar was Sunday the 24th of June.
Birth of
the Union
On Sunday the 4th of February 2007 Chief Instructors and Masters from six Tang
Soo Do federations met at the 'ORO' in 'Henley in Arden' to discuss expanding
The Tang Soo Do Union.
The unique nature of that meeting is a pivotal point in the growth of The Tang
Soo Do Union. For fifteen senior Tang Soo Do Instructors (one of whom was the
first British citizen to obtain Dan certification in Tang Soo Do) to meet with
no agenda beyond the creation of a contact group that could open
training/competing opportunities for members is we believe, unprecedented in the
UK
.
In September of 2005 one hundred members of the
International Tang Soo Do Federation and the Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation
of Great Britain gathered in
Manchester
for an afternoon of training, knowledge sharing and friendship. This gathering
had come about as the result of an earlier alliance of like minded Tang Soo Do
Instructors whose aim was simply to get together and participate in an active
way to share knowledge and experience with similar minded martial artists.
Subjects for instruction were chosen for their curriculum neutral status. Those
subjects included quarter staff, sweeps and knife defense.
